Wednesday, May 15, 2026

Wednesday we will begin our social event mid-afternoon.

We will meet in the lobby to walk to the nearest Metro station.  It is an 8 minute walk to the Les Corts Metro station from the hotel.  We will then take the Metro to Sagrada Familia

A true icon of Barcelona and the unfinished masterpiece of Antoni Gaudí, the Sagrada Família fascinates with its beauty, complexity, and spiritual dimension. Unique in the world, this basilica impresses both with its spectacular architecture and with the symbolic power it embodies. For more than 140 years, it has been slowly rising toward the sky, at the pace of a construction site that blends tradition, faith, and technical feats.

The Sagrada Família is often mistakenly called the Cathedral of Barcelona (the real cathedral being the Cathedral of the Holy Cross and Saint Eulalia). However, it remains the most iconic attraction of Barcelona. For further information about Sagrada Familia see the Wikipedia article.

After a visit to the cathedral, we will go to a restaurant for a group dinner.

Thursday, April 16, 2026

Thursday we will begin our social event mid-afternoon.

We will meet in the lobby to walk to the nearest Metro station, and then take the Metro to the Montjuic Funicular (cable car).  We will ride this halfway up a mountain and then take the Teleferic de Montjuic, a delightful skyride with beautiful views, to Montjuïc Castle.

Montjuïc Castle is a historic fortress built in 1640 on top of Montjuïc Hill in Barcelona. The castle offers panoramic views of the city, coastline, and the Mediterranean Sea.

Over the centuries, it has served as a military stronghold, a prison, and a site for political executions. Today, it functions as a municipal facility and cultural center with exhibits exploring the castle's history.

For further information about Montjuic Castle, see the Wikipedia article.

After our visit to the castle, we will go to a restaurant for a group dinner.

Friday, April 17, 2026

The conference ends Friday afternoon.  This evening you will be on your own.  There are many fine restaurants in Barcelona, as well as in the hotel.
