City Facts
Located in Southern Asia, Singapore is not just one island but a
main island with over 60 surrounding islets. The main island has a
total land area of about 263 square miles (about the size of Rhode
Island).
Airports
SIN - Changi Airport
Ground Transportation
From the Airport:
The best way to get from Changi airport to the city (20km/12mi
away) is by train. There is also a wide choice of bus and taxi
services. Singapore is also the southern terminus of Malaysia's rail
system and there are three trains a day to Kuala Lumpur (four on
weekends).
About the town:
Singapore has a comprehensive bus network with frequent services;
it's cheap and simple to use. There is also good supply of taxis and
all are metered. They can be flagged down on the street or found at
taxi stands near major hotels and shopping centres. Rickshaws have
disappeared from Singapore's main streets but can still be found
operating in Chinatown and back streets; agree on a fare beforehand.
Lastly, Singapore has a convenient Mass Rapid Transit (MRT) subway
system that won't cost you a fortune or tax your brain too much.
Conference Hotel
Raffles The Plaza Hotel is located in the heart of Singapore's business and
