on the island of
Bali,

The 37th Annual Symposium will be held 1-5 September 1997, at the
Grand Hyatt Hotel, in
Nusa Dua,
the Providence (and island) of
Bali,
in the
Republic of Indonesia.
Delegates should plan to arrive by or on Sunday, August 31, and depart in the afternoon of Friday, September 5.

Whether they are feasting on fresh seafood, wandering along a meandering tropical path, or luxuriating in their own exclusive sun room, visitors to the Grand Hyatt Bali experience a level of bliss that would be difficult to match. With 750 rooms and suites, the hotel provides all the conveniences of a large resort without sacrificing any of the privacy. The guest room decor showcases the beauty of Bali's artistry, and the common areas are alive with music, dancing, sports, and other exciting activities.
The registration fee will include hotel, meals*, and conference fees from Sunday evening (August 31) until Friday morning (September 5). The full registration fee will include an all-day excursion on Wednesday, September 3. To encourage participation, a fee subsidized by AGIFORS has been set.

Since the number of rooms is limited, early registration is advised, After July 15, we cannot guarantee that rooms will be available. Any registration accepted after that date will be subject to a US$50 per person late booking charge.
Between August 27 and September 9 inclusive, extra nights (garden-view room), pre- and post-Symposium, can be purchased for US$100; before and after these dates, extra night (garden-view room) are available for US$160 per night. Room rates are subject to 10% service charge and applicable government tax, currently at 11%. Delegates will be expected to settle their bill for extra nights and incidentals directly with the hotel.

Ngurah Rai Airport (DPS), in Denpasar, Bali - Indonesia, is well served by major airlines. Delegates are expected to arrange their air travel through normal interline channels.
Please include your arriving flight information and planned hotel check-in date on the attached application for registration. If you plan to check-in at the Symposium hotel upon your arrival at DPS, it is pertinent that your flight information (carrier, flight number, and arrival time) is provided so that the hotel's meet & greet service can be provided.
Nusa Dua is located on the island's southern-most tip.

The technical program will consist of a variety of airline Operations Research papers. Airline professionals and academicians will discuss algorithms, methodologies, and successes in the areas of cargo marketing and operations; crew management (from planning crew pairings to development of bid lines); ground resource management; maintenance and inventory control; market development and research; operations control; reservations and yield management; and schedule and strategic planning. Invited presentations and papers sponsored by AGIFORS study groups, as well as contributed papers, will be featured; for a listing of planned speakers and presentations, click here. All papers will be published in the AGIFORS Proceedings, which has wide industry circulation.
Prizes were awarded for the best technical paper, best innovation and best presentation. Delegates were invited to vote for these awards during the Symposium.

A limited number of selected vendors will present their hardware and software products. There will be an exhibition area for live demonstrations from Monday through Thursday. Organizations paying a vendor fee will be entitled to two (2) complimentary registrations.

The traditional banquet and awards ceremony will be held the evening of Thursday, September 4. The dress code for this event is business attire. For male delegates and guests, suit or coordinated sport coat with shirt and pants, dress or bow tie, socks and dress shoes are suggested. For female delegates and guests, dress, suit, coordinated sweater/blouse with pants/skirt or dress pantsuit, and dress shoes are appropriate.
