Presentations
This year the meeting will address the following : In the early 1970's
aviation in '2001 was envisaged is as a period of hyper efficiency . Now we are
in 2001 the realities of commercial aviation are different. With the advent of
deregulation starting in the late '70s, airline traffic grew exponentially world
wide yet the technology of managing air traffic @ airport and airspace has grown
much slower. Aircraft manufactures, aviation authorities and airlines are facing
new challenges as congestion and costs escalate and public patience from
mounting delays are wearing thin. New insights, initiatives and strategies from
ATC, airline planners and governments urgently needed. New IT systems and OR
techniques integrating demand flow management, pricing etc. are required in
light of these challenges. This conference will address the following issues
- A New Formulation of Demand Driven Dispatch - UAL
- Integration of Scheduling and Revenue Management at AA
- The new air traffic management (ATM) system - Boeing
- The approach developed to generate future schedules to be used in ATM capacity assessment studies
- Boeing
- A schedule planning tool for maximizing revenue while maintaining schedule feasibility - Parc Tech
- Effectiveness of an airline's planned hub operations - Atraxis AG
- An analysis of European hub growth - BA
- Zero-based Scheduling - BA
- Fleet Assignment - BA
- Network planning and management tools
- Tail Assignment as a Key Planning Problem - Carmen Systems AB
- Planning for structural change of an airline system - QEDM
Active participation by the attendees of this meeting is necessary for it to
be successful. We therefore encourage you to share your ideas with the others in
our airline OR industry in the form of a presentation to the group. A soft copy
of your presentation should be made available for the meeting and for
publication.
Presentations do not need to describe a completed or implemented
work. An update on a long-term project or a discussion of ideas for the future
development is often as interesting and useful to the group. If you are
planning to make a presentation please advise Ken Wang by 01 April,
2001.
