& Strategic Planning 2007 Application of Discrete
Choice Models for Itinerary Share Prediction |

Prior to the conference, there will be an optional half-day seminar: Application of Discrete Choice Models for Itinerary Share Prediction, led by Professor Laurie Garrow on May 16. This four-hour tutorial will provide participants with an introduction to the estimation and application of discrete choice models. The course begins with a brief description of fundamental concepts of multinomial logit (MNL) and nested logit (NL) models. This is followed by a hands-on lab based on real world airline itinerary choice data in which participants learn how to estimate models and interpret model coefficients. Registration is limited to the first 15 participants. We will begin registration in February; for more information please contact Laurie Garrow. The cost of the tutorial is $225 and includes a 30-day trial version of estimation software for MNL and NL models. Participants should bring their own laptop to the tutorial. One week prior to the tutorial, participants will receive instructions by e-mail for where to download software and datasets. Limited copies of the software and datasets will be available on CD and thumb drives for students who have not installed the software prior to the workshop. Laurie A. Garrow |
