Please mark your calendars for the AGIFORS O. R. Managers Study Group meeting scheduled for September 5, 2004, in Singapore. Deadline to register is August 15, 2004. This year the OR Managers meeting will take place in conjunction with the Annual Symposium and is scheduled for the day before the Symposium starts.
The Operations Research Managers Study Group is one of several Study Groups sponsored by AGIFORS - the Airline Group of the International Federation of Operations Research Societies. The OR Managers Study Group aims for a general focus on business and management issues related to managing the Operations Research effort in an organization.
LOCATION
The 2004 O.R. Managers Study Group meeting will be held Sunday, September 5, 2004 at the Raffles The Plaza Hotel in Singapore.
PRESENTATIONS and DISCUSSION TOPICS
The O. R. Managers Study Group is generally a small group, promotes a high level of participation, and is tailored to encourage interactive discussion. It is a great opportunity for you to share your O.R. Management expertise and experience with others in the business.
To help generate ideas for the upcoming meeting, some topics covered in the past include:
In addition, the difficulties and the rapid changes in the Airline Industry in recent times have undoubtedly provided many unique challenges for your Operations Research groups. How OR Groups have participated in managing these changes will no doubt provide some interesting discussion topics for this year’s OR Managers meeting.
Please send your ideas for presentation and discussion topics to armando.silva@aa.com as soon as possible, and email a copy of your presentation or outline of discussion issues by August 20th to facilitate meeting setup.
Please let us know if you are willing to lead a discussion on an OR Management issue or topic of interest to you. Your participation will enhance the value of the OR Managers Study Group for all delegates. Laptop PC, and PC and overhead projectors will be available.
Please register by August 15, 2004 if you (or other Operations Research Management representative of your company) plan to attend.
CONFERENCE EXPENSES
Each participant will be asked to pay 90 Singapore Dollars to cover the cost incurred for the use of the hotel’s conference facilities, morning and afternoon coffee/tea breaks, and lunch. This fee will be payable at the time of the meeting. Receipts will be provided.
Hotel room rates are 157 - 170 Singapore Dollars per night. To obtain this reduced rate you must reserve your room by August 15, 2004. The hotel and rates are the same for the Symposium. If you plan to attend both, you can make a single reservation at
