Auckland Information
Sightseeing &
Entertainment
Auckland has many unique attractions
that deliver maximum satisfaction in a short amount of time. Some
are active, others are passive - but all of them are totally
entertaining. Put time aside to do the things that can only be done
in Auckland. As the 'City of Sails', Auckland almost demands
you get out on the harbour. In addition, some of the best
things in Auckland are free. The Auckland Domain, which is within
walking distance of the Central Business District, is a natural
masterpiece with many special places. Walking trails will take you
to historic statues and beautiful conservatories. Better yet,
you'll need a comfortable pair of walking shoes to conquer the
summit of Rangitoto. When you get to the top, there's a stunning 360
degree view over the Hauraki Gulf and Auckland
cityscape.
Nightlife
Whether your energy levels shoot up or
down in the evening, Auckland gives you plenty of scope for fun.
Cocktails at sunset are an excellent way to start a night out in
Auckland. Down at the Viaduct Harbour the bars look west to the
setting sun. Watch the America's Cup yachts get put to bed while you
sip your favourite relaxant. Dinner could be a casual affair at a
wine bar or a starched linen experience at a fine dining
establishment. Seek out the flavours that take your fancy -
Japanese, Italian, French, Indian, Thai, Korean or Pacific Rim (a
fusion of all the culinary styles that border the Pacific Ocean).
You'll find a choice of late night
haunts around High Street, Karangahape Road, Ponsonby and Parnell.
There's always something happening on the club scene, which includes
everything from stand up comedy to mega dance parties. If you're not
sure where to go, ask the waiter while you're having dinner.
